Using a unique engine combination featuring Pro Stock internal technologies fuelled by supercharged methanol, Michael matched Urban Johansson in 2006 by reaching three FIA finals and winning two. Then, in one of the shocks of the season, he failed to qualify at the European Finals, destroying his championship hopes.

This year, during qualifying for May’s Main Event (MSA Rnd. 2), Michael improved his personal-best ET to 6.24 before the rain set in. In July’s FIA races in Scandinavia, he qualified 4th (6.41) at Alastaro, Finland but slipped up in the first round. At Mantorp Park, Sweden, he hit winning form. Rising from 10th qualifying spot, he defeated Europe’s quickest-ever Pro Mod field, edging Andy Robinson in the final and setting new personal bests (6.211/229.52) on the way.

At Santa Pod’s FIA European Finals (MSA Rnd. 4), Michael became FIA European Champion, clocking three sub-6.2sec. elapsed times en route to a losing final-round finish. His 6.15 best stood briefly during the race as a new European record.
